Hirter Brauerei is one of Austria's oldest breweries and the only independent mid-sized private brewery in Carinthia. Founded in 1270 and still family-owned, the company operates as a concern-free, independent producer. The brewery produces beers including Privat Pils, Märzen, Kellermeister, Weizen, and branded varieties such as Morchl and Herbstkult, alongside soft drinks under its Crush and Ravilla lines and spirits including Braumeisterbrand. Glass bottle filling and fermentation are core production processes. The company operates visitor facilities including the Braukeller restaurant, Bierathek shop, and offers brewery tours and tastings. Hirter holds Slow Food Gütesiegel certification and is recognized as a Cultur Brauer member. The brewery has received funding support from regional and EU agricultural development schemes (LEADER and ELER programs).
