Mack Bryggeri was established in Tromsø in 1877 by Ludwig Markus Mack and remains independently family-owned today. The brewery produces over 90 distinct beverage products including beer, cider, mineral water, energy drinks and flavored waters, sold under brands including Arctic Water. The main production facility is located in Nordkjosbotn in Balsfjord municipality, approximately 7 miles from Tromsø, and the company also operates historical premises in downtown Tromsø including administrative offices, a tasting room, microbrewery division, and a beer hall. The company operates Kjeller 5, a beer shop in the historic Mack quarter, and maintains dedicated brewing and visitor experiences.
