Funchal, Portugal
Madeira Wine Company
Major Madeira wine producer (Blandy's, Cossart Gordon, Leacock, Miles) under Symington and Blandy joint ownership.
Madeira Wine Company was founded in 1913 as an association of Madeira wine producers seeking to maximize global exposure and minimize costs. The company operates as an association of distinct family firms—Blandy's (established 1811), Cossart Gordon (1745), Miles Madeira (1814), and Atlantis (1992)—each maintaining its unique characteristics and production style. The Blandy family has been involved in fine wine making for over 210 years, with members continuing to live and work in Madeira. Production facilities include barrels and vats for aging wines stored at Blandy's Wine Lodge in Funchal's center, where visitors can access the company's extensive wine collection and family museum. The company is B Corp certified and has received EU co-financing support for development projects. Distribution extends globally through its established brand portfolio.
