Pfeifer & Langen Polska is part of the Pfeifer & Langen group, a family-owned company founded in 1870. The Środa facility, established in 1880, is one of the group's major production sites in Poland and one of the most modern sugar factories in Europe. The facility has undergone comprehensive modernization, with increased production capacity matched by decreased energy consumption.
The Środa plant manufactures a range of sugar products sold under the Diamant brand, including crystalline sugar, powdered sugar, liquid sugar, fondant, candy sugar (kandis), and caramel-colored syrups for the food industry. For non-food applications, the facility produces pharma-grade sugar for fermentation and chemical industries, as well as molasses and feed byproducts (BETApur) for animal nutrition. The plant has a modern packaging facility and the first fully automated high-bay warehouse of its kind in the Polish sugar industry.
The Środa facility operates a combined heat and power plant that supplies 40 percent of the energy needs for the local municipality. The company is currently constructing a new gas-fired power plant to eliminate coal consumption. The site employs 388 people across production, technical, procurement, HR and IT functions. The facility operates under the group's sustainability and compliance frameworks, supporting regional sugar beet agriculture and local community initiatives.
