Confiserie Fuerst

Salzburg confectioner producing the original Mozartkugel.

Confiserie Fürst is a family-owned business founded by confectioner Paul Fürst around 1890, now in its fifth generation under Martin Fürst. The company is recognized as the original maker of the Salzburger Mozartkugel, a praline of marzipan with pistachios, nougat, and dark chocolate. The recipe remains unchanged from Paul Fürst's original formula, documented in his handwritten recipe book from 1915, which the family preserves. Each Mozartkugel is individually dipped in chocolate and wrapped in silver foil with a blue Mozart portrait. The company produces the Mozartkugel fresh daily according to traditional methods. Beyond its flagship product, Confiserie Fürst also manufactures other house specialties including pralines such as Bach Würfel, Wolf Dietrich Block, Doppler Konfekt, Millennium Trüffel, and Paris Lodron Trüffel. The business operates multiple retail locations across Salzburg (Alter Markt, Mirabellplatz, Getreidegasse, Ritzerbogen, Residenzplatz, and Elsbethen) combining production, a café, and pastry shop. The company emphasizes the distinction between its original product and numerous imitators produced by other manufacturers.
