Deutsche Algen Genossenschaft eG

Largest European cooperative of microalgae producers. Supplies bulk spirulina and chlorella as flakes, powder, granulate, tablets and capsules. B2B and finished consumer products under the grood brand.

Deutsche Algen Genossenschaft eG is a cooperative of 11 algae producers located in northern Germany, representing Europe's largest algae production according to its website. The cooperative cultivates Spirulina and Chlorella microalgae in controlled greenhouse environments with shallow cultivation basins and supplies both bulk raw materials and finished consumer products. Processing capabilities include powders, granulates, flakes, tablets and capsules for supplements and nutrition applications, with additional products for cosmetics, natural colorants, and animal feed. Production involves low-temperature drying to preserve nutrient content, and algae harvesting separates biomass from water before grinding to powder or coarser granulate. The cooperative has developed a process to produce organic-certified Spirulina. All algae are cultivated 100% in Germany under controlled conditions with no pesticide or herbicide use, free of additives and preservatives. The cooperative emphasizes short supply chains, fair working conditions, raw-food quality standards, vegan and gluten-free products, and regular producer audits. A subsidiary brand, grood, produces finished consumer products including drinks and snacks containing 100% DAG Spirulina.
