Founded in 1990 by Zdeněk Jahoda, Emco began as an importer and exporter of cereals before launching its own brand in 1994. In 1998, the company started producing its own products, beginning with muesli baked in a simple kitchen oven. Today, Emco operates modern production facilities including its own oat mill in South Bohemia, sourcing oats exclusively from Czech farmers. The company has expanded its portfolio to include muesli, oatmeals, biscuits, bars, and other cereal-based products, establishing itself as a leading brand on the domestic market.
Emco is committed to creating natural, high-quality food products with a focus on health and sustainability. The company has removed palm oil from its portfolio, introduced plant-based protein products, and was the first to launch sugar-free crunchy muesli. Recognized with multiple "Reformulation of the Year" awards, Emco operates according to strict food safety and quality standards, holding certifications including BRCGS AA, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, organic, non-GMO, and halal. All key raw materials including oats, sugar, and oils are sourced from Czech producers.
Emco maintains twin production facilities at Hrdly and Vřesce, incorporating sustainable practices such as photovoltaic energy generation and waste heat recovery systems. The company's commitment to sustainability extends across packaging, with 74% of products using fully recyclable materials, and environmental stewardship through support for renewable energy and soil conservation practices.
