Iceland Protein operates from Akranes, Iceland, with roots in fish processing dating back more than twenty years. The company has developed a proprietary process to transform underutilized byproducts from wild and sustainably caught groundfish into EcoD, a high-protein ingredient with a complete amino acid profile, omega-3 fatty acids, minerals and collagen. EcoD is marketed as a 100% natural protein product. The company has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, EIT Food, and the Icelandic Technology Development Fund, indicating recognition for its processing innovations.
