Paiva region goat and cow cheese producer.
Founded in 1933 through a merger of two dairies, Lacticínios do Paiva is based in Lamego in northern Portugal. The company produces a range of cheese formats including whole bars, sliced, fresh, premium aged varieties, and lactose-free options. In 1988 it established an in-house milk collection operation with laboratory testing for raw material quality control. The company relocated to new facilities in Lamego in 1998 and expanded internationally starting in 2008 with distribution operations in Cape Verde, Mozambique and Angola, now exporting to more than 35 countries across five continents. The facility includes a wastewater treatment plant built in 2018 with modern aeration technology installed in 2021. Lacticínios do Paiva holds food safety certification to ISO 22000:2005 (from 2010) and IFS FOOD V6 (from 2016), and environmental certification to NP EN ISO 14001:2015 (from 2022). The company was recognized as PME Líder (Leading SME) in 2024.
