Mosterei Möhl AG is a family-owned cider house and distillery located in Arbon, in the heart of Switzerland's largest apple-growing region. The company processes around 25,000 tonnes of must fruit annually, sourced primarily from suppliers within a 40-kilometre radius, with two-thirds sourced directly from local farmers. The facility is situated in the Thurgau region near Lake Constance, at the centre of the country's principal must fruit area.
The company's production encompasses the full range from pressing and storage to modern filling facilities. Processing includes fruit intake and grinding, aroma and concentrate extraction using vacuum evaporation, clarification and filtration of musts, fermentation and maturation in wooden casks, and filling lines adapted to different product types and formats. The company produces clear and turbid juices, schorles, fermented apple juices (most), and ciders. Bottles are filled in both glass and PET formats.
Möhl operates a museum and visitor experience at its Arbon site. The company's quality control relies on traditional sensory assessment by its cellar master, who evaluates colour, aroma and flavour characteristics. Products are sold under brands including Shorley, Saft vom Fass, Swizly, and Möhl Cider Clan. The company also operates a regional beverage distribution business from the same location.
