Italprotein, based in Bologna, holds exclusive distribution rights for Proamina® in Italy and the European Union. Proamina® is a patented amino acid blend classified as an ordinary food ingredient under EC Regulation 178/2002, not as an additive or novel food. The ingredient is 100% protein by weight with zero carbohydrates, zero fats, zero sugars, and zero EU allergens, offering a clean label profile with no E-number designation.
Proamina® is freely soluble in water at 280.9 g/L and thermostable up to 214 °C, suitable for hot and cold beverages, baking, and cooking applications. The ingredient is gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan, and non-GMO. It contributes positively to aroma profiles and enables nutritional claims. A notable technical property is that its protein content interacts with milk proteins during frothing to create denser, more persistent microfoam in cappuccinos.
The ingredient is produced by NH2 Tech Srl in Milan and is supplied in three formats: single-dose sachets for hot beverages, 500g jars for home cooking and pastry work, and instant sticks for sports and on-the-go consumption. Shelf life is 24+ months, with purity of at least 98% by HPLC.
