The Cultured Hub

Kemptthal Migros-Bühler-Givaudan cellular-ag pilot facility.

The Cultured Hub is a joint venture of Givaudan, Bühler, and Migros established in 2021 and launched in 2023. Based in Kemptthal near Zurich, it operates as a co-manufacturing and scale-up facility for food-tech and biotech companies developing cultured meat, fish, seafood, and precision fermentation products. The facility enables startups to move directly from benchtop development to industrial production as a contracted service, eliminating the need to invest in proprietary pilot facilities and reducing time-to-market. The Cultured Hub provides regulatory batch manufacturing, analytical support, food safety procedures, process optimization, and production for early commercial launches. Beyond facilities, the company functions as an ecosystem enabler, connecting clients with industry partners in cell lines, media, and enabling technologies required for scale-up to industrial manufacturing. The service model allows startups to bridge development stages and reduce technical and financial risk while maintaining flexibility in response to supply chain pressures.
