Vaubernier - Fromagerie du Bois Belleray

Independent family cheesemaking company producing traditional Camembert and other cheeses using heritage methods with hand-turned aging since 1912.

Fromagerie Vaubernier is a family-owned, independent cheesemaker established in 1912 in Martigné-sur-Mayenne in the Mayenne region of France. The company perpetuates a traditional lactic cheese recipe using milk, cultures, and salt, employing a distinctive method of hand-turning each cheese during the aging process to develop their characteristic texture and flavor profile. The fromagerie produces camembert, brie, lingot, and butter from fresh milk collected within a 40-kilometer radius of their facility.

The company employs approximately 130 people and partners with 195 local dairy farmers for milk supply. Vaubernier produces approximately 100,000 camemberts daily and has expanded internationally since 2012, exporting their Bons Mayennais brand products to the United States, Scandinavian countries, Poland, Australia, and other markets worldwide. Catherine Drezen represents the third generation of the Drezen family managing the enterprise, maintaining the company's commitment to quality, tradition, and economic development in their local terroir.
