David Goelles whiskey gin rum

Riegersburg house of whiskey, gin and rum.

Founded by Alois Gölles, the family business operates in its third generation from Riegersburg in Styria. Production began with fruit distillation in 1979, followed by fine vinegar manufacturing from 1984. The company is known for developing apple balsamic vinegar in 1984, claimed as a global first (previously balsamic was made only from grapes). The manufaktur produces around twenty different fruit brandies and an equal number of vinegars, using apples, pears, plums and peaches from the family orchard. Production includes aged spirits such as Marille (apricot) brandy, Alte Zwetschke (plum) brandy, and rum products including Ron Johan. The company holds organic certification (Biozertifikat 2026) and operates a visitor facility established in 1993, expanded and redesigned in 2015, offering production tours and tastings. Distribution covers Austria and Germany through the company online shop and wholesale partners.
