Finnebrogue is a meat and plant-based food processor established in 1996, headquartered on the Finnebrogue Estate in Downpatrick, County Down. The company operates a state-of-the-art food processing facility opened in 2016 at Down Business Park, with a £24 million investment that expanded its workforce to 320 employees. The business is known for developing a proprietary sausage process developed in 2005 that locks in succulence and taste, which has become its trademark.
The company produces premium pork sausages for major UK supermarket retailers including Marks & Spencer, Asda, and Waitrose, as well as food service products under the Booker brand. In 2018, Finnebrogue launched Naked Bacon, a nitrite-free bacon produced in partnership with Spanish company Prosur using natural flavourings from Mediterranean fruit and spice extracts. The company also produces Naked branded sausages and ham free of artificial additives or allergens.
Finnebrogue began with red deer farming and established venison production, which attracted endorsement from chefs including Rick Stein, Raymond Blanc, and Heston Blumenthal. The company supplies venison to Marks & Spencer since 2003. Diversification into plant-based products occurred with the opening of a dedicated vegetarian factory to develop meat-free alternatives.
The Good Little Company, launched in 2010 as a sub-brand, produces sausages made from 85% outdoor bred pork with reduced fat and salt, marketed as healthy family products with charity partnerships. Finnebrogue sources pork from Karro Food Group, which supplies outdoor bred, RSPCA approved and free range pigs from across the UK and Ireland. The company uses gluten-free crumb from Bowman's Mill, a family miller since 1847.
