Kalmenhof Demeter operates as a nine-generation family farm on the Swabian Alb, combining dairy cattle farming with arable production. The family relocated the business in 2003 and converted to biodynamic agriculture in 2009, achieving Demeter certification in 2012. The farm specializes in growing heritage and rare crop varieties including einkorn, buckwheat, and Alb lentils alongside conventional crops, implementing crop rotation and no-till soil management. Processing capabilities include grain milling, sieving and sifting of dry goods, and fluid bed drying. The farm produces its own natural preparations to support soil and plant health as part of biodynamic practice. Products are sold through direct marketing channels, regional organic retailers, and a farm shop opened at the site.
