Lactalis Iberia is the Spanish operating company of Lactalis, a family-owned multinational dairy group founded in 1933. The company has operated in Spain since 1983, beginning with a cheese operation in Vilalba, Lugo, and has grown to operate eight production plants across five regions. The company collects milk from over 400 municipalities across 13 autonomous communities, processing approximately 963 million litres of milk annually. Its product portfolio spans milk and dairy beverages, cheeses including protected designation of origin varieties, yoghurts, desserts, butter and cream, specialised nutrition products, and foodservice solutions. The company owns or manages 42 brands including Puleva, Président, Galbani, El Ventero, Flor de Esgueva, Gran Capitán and others, alongside brands managed through the Lactalis Nestlé joint venture including La Lechera and Nestlé Kéfir. Lactalis Iberia employs 2,679 people and invested over €265 million in its plants between 2015 and 2024, with a planned €200 million investment scheduled for 2026-2030. The company states that 98.9% of cow milk is certified in animal welfare terms. It operates a research network with over 470 researchers and launched 38 new product references in 2025 across all categories. Sustainability commitments include a 71.4% reduction in scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions versus 2019, with 82% of packaged products designed to be recyclable and 32% of packaging material from recycled sources.
