Caves Krier Freres Remich SA

Family-owned Luxembourg sparkling-wine specialist (Krier Frères 1914, Gales 1916, partnership 2003). Combined operation gives access to dedicated Crémant production lines at Ellange-Gare plus historic galleries at Remich. Krier-Welbes line in organic conversion since 2009.

Caves Krier Frères traces its origins to 1914 when Jean Krier founded the business in Bech-Kleinmacher with two of his sons, François and Jean-Pierre. Initially focused on buying and selling wines in barrels, the company relocated to Remich in 1922 to leverage rail connections for distribution to Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the Baltic countries. A third brother, Auguste, later joined the enterprise. From the 1960s onwards, following a shift toward quality control, the company developed its own private vineyard domain under the leadership of Jean and Paul Krier. In 2003, the Krier family partnered with the Gales family, also from the region, to expand the business and develop Luxembourg crémant sales. The company produces both terroir wines and Luxembourg crémants (sparkling wines) including Brut, Rosé, and vintage expressions. In 2021, operations relocated to the Caves St Martin site along the Moselle, which features hundreds of meters of galleries carved into rock, providing optimal conditions for wine and crémant production and storage. The company's wines and crémants are recognized in international competitions.
