FRoSTA AG

Major frozen producer (since 1905) — fish, vegetables, ready meals — with active COPACK private-label division.

FRoSTA AG, headquartered in Bremerhaven, Germany since 1961, operates four production plants across Europe: Bremerhaven (Germany), Bydgoszcz (Poland, acquired 1999), Lommatzsch (Germany, acquired 1990), and Bobenheim-Roxheim (Germany, acquired 1986). The Bremerhaven facility, the company's flagship site since 1962, specializes in frozen fish products including fish sticks, breaded products, and natural fillets, alongside frozen prepared meals and frozen pasta. The Lommatzsch and Bobenheim-Roxheim plants focus on vegetable and herb processing, with seasonal operations during harvest periods from April through late autumn. The Bydgoszcz facility, expanded in 2016–2017, produces frozen fish and vegetable products primarily for Eastern European markets.

All production sites hold certifications including ISO 50001 (energy management), BRC, IFS, and MSC (Marine Stewardship Council). Several sites maintain organic certification under EU regulations for ecological agriculture. The Bremerhaven facility additionally holds RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certification, as do Bydgoszcz and both German vegetable processing plants. Lommatzsch and Bobenheim-Roxheim maintain increasing shares of organically grown vegetables (15% and 30% respectively) sourced from contract farming and processed fresh immediately after harvest. The company employs approximately 1,500 staff across all locations and operates certified quality management systems documented in electronic handbooks, with regular internal audits and risk assessments.
